Mitchell Municipal Airport – has two runways; one is 5,800 feet in length and the other is 6,700 feet in length; concrete asphalt overlay on both. VOR/DME and ILS instrument approach. FBO (fixed base operator) offers complete facilities for business charters and has hanger rental, maintenance and jet fuel (100 low lead and jet-A fuels).
Joe Foss Regional Airport – is a one-hour drive from Mitchell on a four lane divided highway. The Regional Airport has four passenger airline carriers arriving and departing out of the airport on a daily basis; United Express, Northwest, TWA and Mesaba. United Airlines has 5 flights to and from Chicago and Denver each day. Northwest has 6 flights to and from Minneapolis each day. TWA has 3 flights to and from St. Louis each day. Mesaba has 3 flights to and from Minneapolis during the weekdays and 2 flights on Saturday and Sunday.
